SUMMARY:DiaClas: Dialect classification – past\, present and future
DESCRIPTION:DiaClas\, a symposium on the past\, present and future of dialect classification\, will take place in Ljubljana (Slovenia)\, 23-25 April 2025. It will be hosted by ZRC SAZU (Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts) and is co-organized by Fryske Akademy and Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The symposium is linked to the DIACLEU project (Dialect Classifications of Languages in Europe)\, that aims to publish a complete\, state-of-the-art\, and historical overview of dialect classifications of the endogenous languages spoken in Europe. DESCRIPTION:Sprachvariation und Sprachwandel im deutschsprachigen Raum (D-A-CH)\n– Research on Language Variation and Change (LVC) in the German-speaking Area \nDas Ziel der ersten D-A-CH_LVC Tagung ist es\, Forschung zu Sprachvariation und Sprachwandel\, Soziolinguistik und Dialektologie sowie verwandten Bereichen in einem Tagungsformat zu präsentieren. Dabei soll auch die Vielfalt der empirischen\, theoretischen und methodischen Ansätze sichtbar gemacht werden. Im Zentrum steht die Forschung zu Wandel und Variation deutscher Varietäten. Das schließt auch den Kontakt mit nicht-deutschen Varietäten ein. DESCRIPTION:Die Tagung greift eine Idee auf\, die im Mai 2023 in Bern auf der Tagung „Soziolinguistische Perspektiven: Kontakt – Variation – Wandel“ geboren wurde – eine variations- und soziolinguistische Tagungsreihe zum Thema Sprachvariation und Sprachwandel für Linguist*innen aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum nach dem Vorbild der „LVC-Konferenzen“ ins Leben zu rufen. Prominente Beispiele für LVC-Konferenzen sind etwa die Language Variation and Change – Australia (LVC-A) oder die United Kingdom Language Variation & Change (UKLVC). In dieser Tradition soll nun\, ab 2025\, eine neue Konferenzreihe entstehen\, die D-A-CH_LVC.
